Our Collection for Mustard Seed Continues

For many years, we have taken a Sunday each month to collect food for Mustard Seed which in turn feeds those in need.  We choose the first Sunday of each month.  We have taken on the responsibility to help fill their shelves with food, personal care items, and even pet supplies.  Shopping bags are available in the Gathering Space for you to take, fill, and return to Messiah on that Sunday.

This month's the most needed items are: Toilet Paper, Crackers, Cream Corn,

Spinach, Carrots, and Sauerkraut.

WHAT IS MUSTARD SEED?

Mustard Seed is an ecumenical ministry of the churches in Point Place/Shoreland neighborhoods of Toledo, Ohio. Churches, businesses, and community members provide support to Mustard Seed, so that Mustard Seed can provide food, clothing, and other needs to people in need in our neighborhoods.  Mustard Seed is a Toledo Feed Your Neighbor site. Mustard Seed also helps gather names for Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas gifts, and Easter candy to help families make memories on those special holidays.

The churches supporting Mustard Seed are Point Place United Church of Christ, Crosspoint Community Church, Messiah Lutheran Church, Northpoint Church of the Nazarene, RiverPoint Ministries (UMC), and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, as well as numerous local businesses, schools, and individuals.

From Lutheran Disaster Response

Dear friend,

At any given moment Lutheran Disaster Response is actively working in response to disasters and conflicts around the world — whether they occurred last month or years ago. In this edition of “Thrive: Your Impact on Lutheran Disaster Response” you can see snapshots of this ongoing work over the past year and learn about the hope, healing and renewal made possible by your gifts.

This vital ministry of the ELCA allows you to reach out to people during what might be the hardest moment of their life. I invite you to read the stories in “Thrive” and feel inspired by the relationships and connections across the globe that make this work possible. Whether you’re offering a safe and caring community for people with disabilities in the West Bank or supporting volunteers for wildfire relief through Maui’s only ELCA congregation, God is at work in the world through your support.
